FDA Approved N-95 Masks

FDA Approved N-95 (and Other) Masks

In 2009, when this website was first launched, there were only four (4) FDA N-95 face masks approved for use by the general public in public health medical emergencies. At the time, the health emergency was the H1N1 Swine Flu.

Today, during the COVID 19 pandemic, the list has grown to include a number of masks and mask manufacturers too large to list here.

Also, the CDC has allowed for 3M Respirators in international packaging to be made available in US during COVID-19.

What's more, on February 29, 2020, the CDC published guidance Strategies for Optimizing the Supply of N95 Respirators. This guidance provides "Crisis Alternate Strategies" that includes the option: "Use of respirators approved under standards used in other countries that are similar to NIOSH-approved N95 respirators." The other countries listed in the guidance and their associated product classifications can be viewed by CLICKING HERE

NOTE: Some Chinese companies are selling counterfeit respirators, and are falsely claiming that they are NIOSH approved when they are not. Visit the CDC website page on how to spot fake N95, NIOSH, or KN95 respirator mask from China (or other countries) CLICK HERE
